Technical Info
A DNA twin test is used to determine whether a set of twins are identical or fraternal. The DNA from each participant is extracted from the cells and then amplified using a technique called polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for further analysis. This amplified DNA is then analyzed using a method called Short Tandem Repeat (STR) analysis, which captures the genetic information for each marker. This data is then used to conclusively determine whether the two individuals are identical or fraternal.
